TWP’s Day at Westminster: Advocating for UK Manufacturing

Last week, TWP Manufacturing’s Phil and Richard had the incredible opportunity to join over 145 manufacturers at the heart of UK politics for a truly impactful day at Westminster. The event, hosted at the prestigious House of Lords, was a fantastic platform to campaign for greater support for British manufacturing and to rally behind the call for a dedicated Minister for Manufacturing.

A Day to Champion Manufacturing

The day brought together a diverse group of manufacturers, all united by a shared mission: to secure the recognition and support that the UK manufacturing sector truly deserves. Organized by Made in the Midlands, the event featured a blend of powerful advocacy, productive networking, and unique insights into the political landscape that shapes our industry.

One of the highlights was the passionate and inspiring speech from Andrea Wilson, who has worked tirelessly to lead the campaign for a dedicated minister. Her words resonated with everyone in the room, underscoring the urgent need for stronger representation and focused policies to bolster the manufacturing sector.

A Special Thanks to Lord Whitby

We are deeply grateful to Lord Whitby for his hospitality and for opening the doors of the House of Lords to host such an important event. It was a privilege to not only participate but also to receive a fascinating behind-the-scenes tour of this historic institution.

Why This Matters

At TWP Manufacturing, we firmly believe that UK manufacturers are the backbone of the nation’s economy. However, too often, our sector faces challenges without the recognition or support needed to overcome them.

A Minister for Manufacturing could be a game-changer, providing a unified voice to advocate for:

  • Increased investment in innovation and skills development
  • Improved access to resources for businesses of all sizes
  • Strategic policies to boost competitiveness in global markets

It’s about creating a framework where manufacturers can thrive, contribute to economic growth, and continue to uphold the UK’s legacy of excellence in production and engineering.

Networking and Community

The event was also a fantastic opportunity to connect with fellow manufacturers. The collective passion, expertise, and determination in the room were truly inspiring. It’s always a reminder that, while we may represent individual businesses, together, we are part of a much larger movement driving progress and innovation.

Looking Forward

We left Westminster feeling both honored and motivated to continue advocating for change and celebrating the vital role manufacturing plays in the UK. Thank you to Made in the Midlands for organizing such a meaningful event and to everyone who participated, making it a day to remember.

At TWP Manufacturing, we’re proud to have been part of this important initiative and remain committed to supporting the campaign for a dedicated Minister for Manufacturing. Together, we can ensure our sector gets the recognition and resources it deserves.
